Obituary

Frances Stout Broaddus departed from this life on November 23, 2016. As in life, she was accompanied in her final moments by her daughter and best friend, Trudy Lynn Barkley. After one hundred and one years, she was blessed with a peaceful and quiet end.

Frances Stout Broaddus departed from this life on November 23, 2016. As in life, she was accompanied in her final moments by her daughter and best friend, Trudy Lynn Barkley. After one hundred and one years, she was blessed with a peaceful and quiet end.

Fran was an accomplished seamstress, a formidable bridge player, a committed wife, a fun-loving friend, and a fiercely loyal mother and grandmother. Above all else, Fran will be remembered for her love of adventure and the indomitable grace and cheerfulness with which she faced every day to the very last.
Fran did not countenance self-pity or whining. We are joyful that she lived, more than sorrowful that she died.

Fran is survived by her daughter Trudy Barkley, grandchildren Jamison Barkley (Andrew Alsop) and Bo Barkley (Jessica Barkley), and great-granddaughter Sydney Barkley. She is predeceased by her parents, Roxanne and Orville Stout, her sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Marion Klusmeier, her brother, Max Stout, her husband, James Broaddus, her favorite cousin, Lee Lindsay, her brother and sister-in-law, Betty and Anthony Tyla, her brother and sister-in-law Blanche and Glenn Elliot, her best friends Ruth Kramer and Ginny Tyler, dozens of close friends, and many more admirers.

We are grateful for the exquisite care of Fran's caretakers in her last years-Donna Gurule and Worknesh Aramedie, whose cheerful company was a bright spot in each of Fran's days, and the staff at the Seniors Clinic at the University of Colorado Hospital, who took exceedingly good care of her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fran's memory to the Parkinson Association of the Rockies.

Services will be held at the University Park United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

Arrangements under the direction of Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
